Glaucoma is called the silent thief of sight. This is because there are no immediate symptoms and there is no associated pain with the disease.
Dry eye syndrome (DES) affects more than 23 million Americans and that number is growing. L&MI specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye. We offer treatments many other offices do not, including allergy testing and Lipiflow thermal pulsation.

Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis (LASEK) is a new type of refractive surgery that combines the advantages of LASIK and the advantages of PRK and reduces the disadvantages of both. LASEK is similar to LASIK, except that Dr. Soloway cuts a flap in the epithelium (the cornea’s outer layer of cells), instead of through the epithelium and part of the stroma. LASEK is similiar to PRK except that Dr. Soloway preserves the epithelial layer as a replaceable flap instead if scraping or lasering it away.
Intacs corneal inserts or implants are a minimally invasive surgical option used primarily for the treatment of keratoconus. Intacs are made of the same biocompatible material found in intraocular lenses used for cataract surgery, so there is little or no risk of adverse effects from the material.
Crystalens™ is a new cataract replacement lens (IOL) that works naturally with focusing muscle in the eye to retain the eye’s ability to “accommodate” – shift it’s focus between nearby and distant objects – after cataract surgery. With other IOLs, patients lose this ability and require corrective measures such as glasses or contact lenses.
At New York Lasik Center, we are able to satisfy the hard to fit contact lens wearer. Our doctors of optometry are patient, and painstaking in their fitting of contact lenses.
Corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) was developed in 1998 by Theo Seiler, MD, and has been shown in numerous clinical trials to strengthen the eye’s clear surface (cornea) through the application of riboflavin, a form of vitamin-B2, followed by treatment with ultraviolet A (UV-A) light.
In our office, we use a Doctor’s Allergy Formula’s – a proprietary, FDA- approved diagnostic skin “scratch” test to determine your specific allergies. This simple, painless (shot free)s 3-minute test is covered by major medical insurance. The results of the test are read after only 15 minutes. Once we identify what you are allergic to, we can create custom treatment protocols specific to your needs.
The ICL procedure is one of the best alternatives to LASIK. An ICL corrects your vision much like a contact lens, with the exception that it is permanent, doesn’t require regular maintenance and is undetectable to the wearer and onlookers.
